CRI in Communities
In 2009, MWB Moldova extended its Child Care programme to include children deemed “at risk” who live not in the State orphanages, but in homes in the community. Their home may have no parent living there because they have sought work abroad, or a single parent struggling to bring up the children with little or no money, or problems such as health or addictions that affect the ability to parent. This work has extended to Romania, where changes to the State orphanages system are putting more “at risk” children into community loving situations.
It is now possible for New Zealanders to sponsor a “CRI in Community” child who is enrolled in our programme. The following DVD shows examples of such children and the after-school support programme that they attend, in the poor southern village of Crihana Veche, Moldova:
