Dreambus fun trips

This project is operating regularly in Moldova.

Currently about 10,000 children reside in institutions supported by the Mission. Their lives in State Homes are monotonous and lacking the many joys that could improve their lives. Their daily life is a routine consisting of the same things every day: breakfast, lessons, lunch, handiwork, homework, dinner, personal hygiene and preparing for bed. The children do not have a clear idea of life outside the orphanages. They rarely watch TV, and very rarely have the opportunity to find out more about their country, its nature and history, or about different entertainments. The children’s parents and relatives usually live far away from the institutions. Even if the children are lucky enough to go out for vacations, they don’t see much: just the trip to and from home. This is an event for them, however.

Out of 57 institutions the Mission works with, only 1-2 organize some sort of trips for the kids. Other institutions cannot afford such excursions. The children from the rest of the orphanages have to spend their whole days in the same atmosphere. The children’s self-confidence suffers because of insufficient attention and affection. Besides, the monotonous life in the same space does affect the children’s ability, upon graduation from the home, to reintegrate into society, or to associate themselves as an integral part of the country and its history.

BusThe excitement that these trips bring is amazing, but it is very sad to think that almost all of these children have never been to visit the capital city of their country or enjoy time in a fun park. The journey to and from the city is by our Dreambus coach that is equipped with colour screens for showing DVDs etc. Our Christian Input co-ordinator has great skills in communicating with children and teaches them new songs as well as sharing Bible stories and messages.
